Why?

Well … when you do certain things you need to have serious reasons.
When it’s not possible doing anything and you are forced to choose between a nasty error and a nice screen explaining something you probably will choose the second.

Tech troubles you cannot solve by yourself

Well … as everyone should know, when there are database troubles, the only people that can solve ‘em are the webmaster (with user access to database) or the server admin (with root access to the database).
Other people cannot do anything about it, despite their possible role in forum administration, moderation or similar stuff. So whining at them is useless. If there aren’t informations, informations cannot be given.
Furthermore it’s far better that only the site owner (or people sent by him) should contact server admin. This to avoid possible misunderstanding.

Another world

Well … now there are two OS on my PC.
One is a “good” old win98 … the other one is SuSe10, at last.
There were serious troubles with previous kernel series, probably due to a particular PC configuration.
Now nothing special to report … After a quick fix with QParted to some defective partition on the secondary HD all went without any troubles.
I remained stumped by two things: correct recognition of my old printer (it would have been probably rejected by win XP) and correct recognition of a winmodem.
Now there’s only a problem: fixing some incomplete config data put during installation (and probably adding new sw discarded in this first test step).

Cheers
