“Christiane, ego baptizo te in nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritui Sancti”

Amato suggested fictitious illness to Pope, italian columnist said
According to Italian columnist Andrea Tornielli, italian interior minister Giuliano Amato suggested that the Pope should tell on January 17th morning he had the flu and so he couldn’t go to university “La Sapienza”, Rome. This suggestion was done during a phone talk between italian minister and vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone on January 14th evening.
Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco (head of CEI, italian bishops conference) said that Benedict XVI renounced to visit La Sapienza after being told of possible incidents by italian authorities. But italian government denied it, opening a diplomatic incident.
Benedict XVI visit to “La Sapienza” postponed
After the well-noted controversy of recent days… it was considered appropriate to postpone the event,
a Vatican statement said. The event was the inauguration of academic year 2008 in “La sapienza“ university of Rome.
So the Pontiff won’t go there on Thursday 17th and he’ll send the text of his intervention he wanted to read in the oldest roman athenaeum (founded in 1303 by his predecessor Boniface VIII as ‘Studium Urbis’).
